Thailand’s beaches are renowned for their diverse offerings. For those seeking a vibrant party scene, look no further than Patong Beach in Phuket, known for its energetic nightlife.

On the other hand, if you prefer tranquil, pristine shores, the beaches of Krabi, such as Railay Beach and Ao Nang, offer a serene escape. Each beach destination in Thailand has its unique charm, whether it’s the crystal-clear waters of the Similan Islands or the laid-back vibe of Koh Phangan. Before booking a trip to Thailand, make sure you know when is the best time to visit Thailand to make the most of your beach getaway.

Without a doubt one of the top beaches in Thailand, Railay Beach was one of my favorite places to visit on my last trip.

It’s accessible by boat from either Krabi or Ao Nang, and the journey alone is a picturesque adventure in itself.

I found this area to be so peaceful, especially as no vehicles are allowed in the town, creating a serene and eco-friendly environment.

This area also has some of the best resorts in Thailand, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a mix of luxury and natural beauty.

My top choices for a mid-range budget are the Sunrise Tropical Resort and the Sand Sea Resort, both offering stunning views and easy access to the beach.

I loved exploring the hidden lagoons and sea caves here, as well as admiring the magnificent limestone cliffs that define Railay’s landscape.

Whether you’re a beach enthusiast, rock climbing or sea kayaking expert, or simply in search of a tranquil paradise, Railay Beach is an unforgettable destination that captures the essence of Thailand’s natural beauty and charm.

A must-go for beach lovers

If you are considering beaches near Bangkok for a short break from the city, I’d highly recommend Ao Prao.

Located on the northwest coast of Koh Samet, this beach is a massive contrast to your time in the city.

With clear seas for swimming in and perfect white sand, it’s the ideal place to relax for a few days.

13Mai Khao Beach, Phuket

One of the best beaches in Thailand

Mai Khao Beach Phuket Thailand

Mai Khao is one of the best beaches in Phuket as it offers an escape from the crowd and wild nightlife of the area.

After late nights of partying, sometimes all you want is to sit and relax on the beach for the day.

It’s in the north of Phuket and is an unspoiled area. It’s a really long stretch of beach, totaling 7 miles in distance.

Because of its length, even in the busiest of times in Phuket, you’ll have no problem finding a secluded spot here.

12Kata Beach, Phuket

Popular beach for scuba diving

Another of the best beaches in Thailand, also located in Phuket, is Kata Beach.

If you are like me and enjoy being active while on a beach trip, this is an excellent spot for snorkeling and surfing.

It’s the perfect alternative to the busy Patong Beach, with a quieter atmosphere. Between March and October, you can enjoy surfing and surf lessons here.

There are also some great resorts on the beach, bars, and restaurants in the area for enjoying a drink and dinner following a day in the sun.

Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach Koh Phangan

While I traveled to Koh Phangan primarily for the full moon party, I was surprised to find out that the island was the perfect spot for a Thailand beach vacation.

These two beaches are some of the most beautiful on the island, located on the quieter, north side.

They are everything you could imagine from a tropical beach with turquoise seas, white sand, and lush greenery surrounding them.

After traveling all over the country, I still remember them as the most beautiful beaches in Thailand.

10Haad Rin Beach, Koh Phangan

The most famous party beach

Haad Rin Beach, situated on the enchanting island of Koh Phangan in Thailand, is globally renowned for hosting one of the world’s most famous full moon parties.

This crescent-shaped beach, with its powdery white sands and crystal-clear waters, serves as the epicenter of nightlife and celebration on the island.

By day, Haad Rin offers a tranquil setting for relaxation, sunbathing, and water sports. The beach is divided into two main areas: Sunrise Beach on the east, perfect for early risers seeking a peaceful sunrise view, and Sunset Beach on the west, which is more secluded and ideal for enjoying the picturesque sunsets.

But it’s the full moon nights that transform Haad Rin into a vibrant, electrifying party destination.

Thousands of revelers from around the world gather on the beach to dance under the moonlight, with bars and clubs lining the shore, playing an eclectic mix of music.

Beyond the parties, Haad Rin is also home to a range of accommodations, from budget-friendly hostels to upscale resorts, ensuring that visitors can experience the unique blend of natural beauty and nightlife that defines this iconic Thai beach.

9Lamai Beach, Koh Samui

In my opinion, Koh Samui is one of the best islands in Thailand. It offers something for any type of traveler and has some of the best beaches in Thailand.

It’s the perfect area to stay in, especially for couples. I found it more relaxing than Chaweng Beach where most visitors spend time in during a trip in Koh Samui.

At the southern end of the beach, you’ll find the famous Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks, which are well worth the walk to explore.

8Hua Hin Beach, Hua Hin

Coconut trees and exotic marine life

Hua Hin Beach, located along the Gulf of Thailand in the charming town of Hua Hin, offers a delightful mix of natural beauty and cultural experiences.

This beachfront destination, which gained popularity as a royal retreat during the reign of King Rama VII, has retained its regal charm.

The beach itself boasts a long stretch of golden sands where visitors can take leisurely strolls, bask in the sun, or engage in water sports like kiteboarding and jet skiing.

The shallow waters are safe for swimming, making it an ideal spot for families.

What sets Hua Hin apart is its laid-back atmosphere and the nearby attractions. The town is dotted with elegant colonial-era buildings, bustling night markets, and renowned seafood restaurants, offering a glimpse into Thai culture and cuisine.

The Royal Palace and the Hua Hin Railway Station, with its distinctive architecture, are must-visit landmarks.

Hua Hin also offers a range of accommodations, from boutique hotels to luxury resorts, ensuring a comfortable stay for travelers seeking a beachfront escape with a touch of history and culture.

7Laem Thong Beach, Phi Phi Islands

One of the best Thailand beaches

When you think of Thailand’s beaches, the Phi Phi Islands in the Andaman sea always come to mind.

This long beach is located near Bamboo Island and is one of the best places in Thailand for relaxing.

If you enjoy snorkeling and diving, there are fantastic coral reefs just off the shore.

Of course, expect blue seas and stunning white sand on this beach. It’s the perfect place for relaxing in the sunshine.

Many visitors to Thailand have watched the movie The Beach, and can’t wait to explore the areas of the film in Maya Bay.

Maya Beach became famous due to this Leonardo DiCaprio film. With amazing clear waters and a beautiful curved bay, this is a stunning area to visit.

I consider Maya Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and by far the most interesting place you would love to visit on your next Thailand trip.

4Sunrise Beach, Koh Lipe

For many people looking for a quieter beach in Thailand, they head to Koh Lipe.

What used to be a secret area for the well-traveled, has now become a very popular place.

One of my top picks for best Thai beach is Sunrise Beach, which feels like a secret paradise.

With a relaxing atmosphere, it’s the perfect escape from modern life. I’d highly recommend enjoying the sunrise here, which is the ideal romantic activity for couples.

Koh Lipe is one of my favorite areas to visit and has some high-quality Thailand beach resorts.

3Hat Khlong Chao, Koh Kood (Koh Kut)

Hat Khlong Chao Koh Kut

If you are looking for a quieter island away from the bustling Thailand resorts, consider visiting Koh Kood (aka Koh Kut).

Hat Khlong Chao is a beautiful beach, with plenty of palm trees for those needing to shelter from the sun.

With clear seas for swimming in and a nearby waterfall for cooling off, it’s one of Thailand’s best beaches.

I also found the island had a really diverse and high-quality range of bars and restaurants.

2Ao Sai Daeng, Koh Tao

Snorkeling spots and beautiful beaches

Ao Sai Daeng Koh Tao thailand

I loved visiting the island of Koh Tao, where I spent an unforgettable time and took part in the biggest pub crawl in Southeast Asia.

After a few days of exploring the island, I found Ao Sai Daeng beach.

I’ve visited it just before Christmas, and it was one of the best beaches in December.

With clear waters and the nearby Shark Island, snorkeling is available straight from the beach.

It’s a spotless and tranquil beach, and it was the perfect place to chill out after a busy week.

Also, Koh Tao is the home of the best and cheapest diving schools in the world.

Most of the tourists who come to visit this island are looking to get their Open Water Certificate or if they are more advanced, the Divemaster Program.
