Drawing from our experience, Hi-Tec’s footbed is actually removable, if you need more or less cushion. For plantar fasciitis, it is nice to support the feet, but if you don’t like it – just take it out.
Due to the extra padding, you may feel more comfortable ordering a bigger shoe size. I did not have an issue, but some people have said they felt it was on the snugger side.

After conducting experiments with it, these shoes are incredibly breathable during the hike which is great for warm weather. However, the breathability does not feel as great during the colder months.
