With the winter fast approaching in many places around the world, it’s time to start planning your next getaway. Today I’m going to share with you my favorite best places to visit in October.
If you are looking to escape the cold weather, look no further as many of these are tropical, hot places in October!
1Valencia, Spain
This Spanish port city is home to many cultural attractions and is great for a short weekend break or a week-long trip. It was recently named the World Design Capital, and with the architecture here you will see why.
Enjoy exploring the City of Arts and Sciences and the Palau de Les Arts Opera House. Perfect for travelers of all ages, the City of Arts and Sciences offers a planetarium, oceanarium, and interactive museum.
If you like a more active trip, there are several beaches and walking trails in the area. Average high temperatures in October are about 24°C.
2The Philippines
With over 7,000 islands making up the Philippines, it offers some of the best beaches in October. If you enjoy adventure travel and scuba diving, the Philippines is the perfect destination for you.
Enjoy exploring the natural beauty of the country at the Chocolate Hills or Banaue Rice Terraces. My top choices for beaches are Boracay, which offers stunning white beaches, and El Nido, which has incredible dive sites.
The dry season starts in the latter part of October, so it’s the perfect time to explore this diverse country.
3Bath, United Kingdom
If you are based in the UK and are looking for a staycation in October, consider the city of Bath. Enjoy The Roman Baths and the beautiful Bath Abbey.
If you are looking for some pampering and relaxation, I’d highly recommend Thermae Bath Spa, which offers modern pampering in this historic location. I loved the view from their rooftop heated pool!
The city offers great dining and shopping, and you’ll want to spend a few days here just wandering around the city. The Abbey Hotel Bath offers chic accommodation in the center of the town. There are plenty of great central budget hotel chains too, including Travelodge.
4Greece
5Italy
6Mauritius
If you are looking for the best island to visit in October, look no further than Mauritius. For anyone looking to reward themselves after this difficult year, this is the perfect place to switch off and truly escape.
There are some amazing deals around at the moment for this luxury destination, so make the most of it while you can! With interesting sites to see and stunning turquoise beaches, you’ll have an amazing week or two here.
Treat yourself to a luxury resort to enjoy your trip to the most. Many resorts offer all-inclusive accommodation, which is perfect for a hassle-free trip. October offers warm and dry weather in Mauritius, with average temperatures of around 24°C.
7Indonesia
Another great destination in South-East Asia for October travel is Indonesia.
Bali, in particular, is incredibly popular, with its rich culture, amazing beaches and beautiful resorts. Enjoy traveling between various towns and cities if you have a few weeks free.
If you are looking for an island paradise, enjoy the Gili Islands. The three different islands all offer something very individual to meet any traveler’s needs.
Highlights for me in Bali include the Tegalalang Rice Terraces and hiking Mt Batur. Bali offers the perfect combination of great weather, culture, and incredible dining to make it the perfect travel destination.
Regardless of your budget, you will have an amazing time here.
8Mexico
Another great place to travel in October is Mexico. I particularly recommend the Yucatan Peninsula area, which includes Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
Cancun offers modern luxury hotels and a party atmosphere. On the other hand, Playa del Carmen is a little more relaxed but still offers amazing beaches, resorts, and dining.
If you make it to this beautiful country and prefer less touristy spots, check these hidden gems in Mexico.
The average temperature is 26°C, but highs of 31°C can also be experienced at this time of year. Another option in the same area is Tulum, which offers eco-friendly resorts and a laid-back holiday.
9Tel Aviv, Israel
Tel Aviv is an incredibly vibrant and exciting city on the coast of Israel. With beautiful Mediterranean beaches, incredible nightlife, and amazing culture to explore, this is truly an up-and-coming destination.
The food here is also absolutely incredible, and you will be surprised by how modern and international this city is when visiting.
October is one of the best times of year to visit when the temperatures are pleasant but not as scalding hot as the summer months. For avid shoppers visit the six-day-a-week Carmel market, and culture lovers will appreciate the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
10Namibia
If you are looking for an incredible, nature-based adventure this year, Namibia is a good place to travel in October.
Located in southwest Africa, one of the biggest draws is, of course, the chance to go on Safari. The country features diverse wildlife but is especially renowned for its cheetahs.
Etosha National Park offers different landscapes and incredible animal sighting opportunities.
The country is perfect for taking a tour around and seeing multiple places within your trip time. October is one of the best months for animal sightings with good weather and little rain.
11Nepal
A stunning country in South Asia, Nepal is a great option for an exciting trip this year. With the Himalayas and Kathmandu, this country is a diverse and exciting travel destination.
Kathmandu is an exciting capital city that offers a good mix of sights, great dining options, and temples. Don’t miss the Pashupatinath Temple here. I also loved my time in Nagarkot.
This offered amazing sights of the Himalayas and was a breath-taking place to stay. October is the perfect time to visit Sagarmatha National Park, home of Mount Everest.
12Paris, France
If you are looking to have a quick romantic escape this October, Paris is a great option. Well-linked by the Eurostar or planes throughout Europe, it’s a quick and easy getaway for European residents.
Enjoy strolling along the river and visiting the Eiffel Tower. Sit on pavement-side cafes and enjoy the elegance and charm of this city. October is a good time to visit before it starts to get too cold for winter!
13Dubai, UAE
Another great choice for the winter sun is Dubai. Enjoy staying in one of the glitzy hotels and the guaranteed sunshine during your trip.
Experience the immense Burj Khalifa or the Burj Al Arab. I enjoyed visiting the Dubai Miracle Gardens on my last trip. For families, there are some great theme parks and water parks.
And if you love to shop, don’t miss the Dubai Mall for fantastic dining and shopping. This really is the perfect year-round destination, but the winter allows for less oppressive heat than you would experience in the summer.
