Singapore is famous for many things, but its beaches are especially exceptional. Despite being absolutely gorgeous, most of Singapore’s beaches are actually manmade.

These beaches were built from reclaimed land and filled with sand imported from Indonesia and Malaysia. There are two main groups of beaches in Singapore, those on Sentosa Island and the others on the east coast.

Regardless of which section you go to, take time to visit the best beaches in Singapore on this list. 

Anytime is a good time to visit Singapore, but the best time to experience the golden beaches is from November to March. The weather during this time is ideal for swimming and water sports.

The best way to get to Singapore is a flight through Changi airport, which is known as one of the most beautiful airports in the world.  

11Tanjong Beach

On Sentosa Island there are three main beaches, Tanjong Beach is the most private of the three. It is perfect for those that want some quiet and solace.

The sands are white, the waters are nice and warm, and there are plenty of shady trees. Tanjong helps you to escape from city life and all the stresses of life. 

When you want a break from the beach, visit the Tanjong Beach Club. Filled with restaurants, a swimming pool, and live music, this beach club is great for some action-packed fun. Take a break from your daily stress and escape to this Sentosa beach. 

10Changi Beach

Moving on from Sentosa Island’s beaches, you can discover Changi Beach – one of the best Singapore beaches for swimming.

It may not be as modern as some other beaches, but it has a stunning traditional floating village that is perfect for unforgettable photos. It is located in Changi Beach Park and is popular with locals. 

You may not find chic restaurants at Changi Beach, but you will find plenty of grilling areas and local eateries to dine in. If you want to spend a night under the stars, there are plenty of camping spots right on the soft, golden sands of Changi. 

9St. John’s Island Beach

Those that want a private nature adventure should visit St. John’s Island. It is quite off the radar, so you will not find many people or facilities here.

However, you will find gorgeous lagoons, picnic spots, and coral reefs. The beaches have golden sands that are perfect for a relaxing nap, or a lovely picnic.

Keep in mind that the last boat back to mainland Singapore is around 5 PM, so make sure to catch that boat if you are not staying the night. A visit to the remote St. John’s Island is great for those that want a rustic and private beach near Singapore. 

8East Coast Beach

Located in Singapore’s largest park, there are plenty of exciting activities to explore at East Coast Beach. Whether you want to declutter your mind or get your adrenaline rush, there is something to enjoy.

The beach is covered with coconut trees for you to sit under and rest in, and make you forget you are a stone’s throw away from the main Singapore tourist attractions. 

The expansive park includes walking paths, restaurants, camping sites, and BBQ pits. To get your heart racing, visit Xtreme SkatePark or cable skiing. It will not only be an adventure but will leave you with many great memories. 

7Punggol Beach

Despite being one of the most popular places on Sentosa Island, it is one of the least explored.

Tucked away in Punggol Point, Punggol Beach is a beautiful, calm area that is easily accessible from the city. Whenever you need a quick city escape, jump on the bus or MRT to this Singapore beach haven. 

The fine sands and gentle waves are perfect for a swim, or a casual stroll during sunset.

There are a few restaurants at Punggol Beach, so you do not have to worry about having to go far from the beach for some delicious local eats. Enjoy the unspoiled sands, and have a break from the large crowds. 

6Northern Lagoon

Near Singapore’s coast, you can find the quiet beaches of Kusu Island. The largest beach on Kusu Island is by the Northern Lagoon near the Tortoise Sanctuary.

Northern Lagoon’s beach is famous for housing a large population of tortoises. Try snorkeling through the island’s clear blue waters and look out for the local animal. Bring your GoPro for snorkeling and it will definitely leave you with unforgettable experiences and memories. 

When you are not exploring the beautiful waters, rest on the pristine Kusu sands while surrounded by lush forestry.

5Lazarus Island Beach

There are many islands that surround Singapore that have lovely beaches. Lazarus Island is one of those special islands. It is still relatively unknown, but it is a true Singaporean hidden gem.

Its aquamarine waters, white sands, and jungles make it feel like a tropical paradise. Relax on the beach, or stroll along with one of the beach’s walking paths. 

There are water sports to enjoy while here, but one of the must-do activities while in Lazarus is dining on the local cuisine.

Since it is an island, there are plenty of unique seafood dishes that you cannot get in other parts of the world, so be adventurous and see what the local eateries have to offer. It is a fantastic place to visit in Singapore. 

4Sembawang Park Beach

Similar to East Coast Beach, this small beach is hidden within Sembawang Park. It is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and has many activities for everyone in the group.

For those that love the beach, there is a strip of sand by the ocean where you can swim and play. And for those that don’t love the beach, there are plenty of tree-lined trails to explore. 

Take a break at the beach, or enjoy one of the many picnic areas. It is a lovely way to spend the day with friends and family without too many crowds. 

3Pasir Ris Beach

Known as one of the most family-friendly, Pasir Rish Beach has lots of activities and space for a great bonding time. The soft sands are right by the park creating unique landscapes and views.

Rest on the sands while children play in the gentle waves, or experience the many nearby must-see places in Singapore. 

There are fun playgrounds across Pasir Ris, but one of the most exciting features has to be the maze.

There is an awesome maze on the beach that will definitely create some excitement on your trip. Horse riding is another unique experience you can try while visiting Pasir Ris Beach.

It is also one of the cleanest beaches on the east coast, so you never have to worry about where your kids explore.

2Siloso Beach

For the party-loving traveler, Siloso Beach is the place to go on Sentosa. While you can relax on the soft sands, you can also experience canoeing, beach volleyball, or jet packs on the water.

To get even more action, try the zipline that goes over the blue waters and coastlines to get the most impressive Siloso Beach views.

Only a few steps from the gentle waves and white sands, there are a variety of restaurants, cafes, and shopping outlets to visit.

Before you take a food break, take a leap on the bungee jumping tower to get your heart racing by the beach. It is one of the most action-packed places to visit in Singapore.
